I can't even believe that the girls are 9 months olds. They are growing and changing each day; it is truly unbelievable! They went today for their 9 month checkup and met every developmental milestone. The appointment itself was still crazy with three babies but not as crazy as usual. I was trying to figure out what was different after we left. I think they are bigger and can eat finger food which helps to keep them busy and a little quieter. They each received their last RSV shot today which means that spring is getting closer and no more monthly appointment for shots!! It is so interesting how each of them has developed such distinct personalities.
Brooke: "The leader" 17 pounds 2 ounces
Army crawling everywhere, pulling up on everything, beginning to cruise on furniture, starting to attempt to go up steps, has her first tooth, and the leader of the three. Brooke is into everything and has emerged as the take charge kind of girl. She knows what she wants and gets it even if that means crawling over one of her sisters, knocking them over or just plain sitting on them. She loves to eat but is always a mess at the end. She is doing great with her therapy and making so much progress. She is still wearing her helmet but hopefully only a few more weeks.
Lexi: "The princess" 15 pounds 14 ounces
Still the tiny one of the group but is crawling and beginning to pull up. She likes to eat but can manage to eat finger food without making a mess..nothing on her hands or face. She likes to be clean and has become the princess of the three. She still loves mommy and does not need much sleep.
Brynn: "The Observer" 17 pounds 10 ounces
Brynn is the observer of the three. She watches her sisters before she will attempt to do things. She is crawling, starting to pull up on things, has her first tooth just coming in, loves music, loves to dance and clap her hands.
In the past couple of weeks we have:
-gone back to the University of Maryland for their NICU follow up appointment, they did great!
-Lexi went to Hopkins for her eyes and we got a good report
-continued PT therapy in our house and making great progress
-continued outpatient therapy and making progress
-had ear infections and colds, which was a long few days!
-transition to a new formula
-started eating finger foods: dried apples and pears, rice puffs, rice cookies, bananas
-Tom and I got out of the house for a kid free dinner..thanks Joanne and Mary Ellen for your babysitting services. It was so nice to get out!!
I would have thought that when the babies were 9 months that things would seem easier. I don't really think that things are easier just different. Each new stage brings new challenges. The challenge now is keeping up with all three of them and keeping them safe when they are going different directions. I would say that I still live day to day because any more than that is just to overwhelming. I will post new pics soon. Think SPRING, we are ready!!
